The Times of Our Lives
I recently asked a family member if they had read my most current blog? They replied that they had not because the blogs are too long and too heavy. I did not respond. However, I do understand that the content of my blogs are not for the faint hearted. They are not for casual Christians or those that are not interested in keeping their finger on the pulse of the Lord’s appointed timetable. They are not for those that embrace the attitude that all things continue as before and ask “where is the promise of His coming?” They are for those that feel in their spirit the ominous foreboding of change. They are fore those that believe the words of St. Paul in I Thess. 5:5-9: But you , brothers and sisters are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. But you are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and loves as a breastplate and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath…”
The following is Luke Chapter 21. I read each phrase and then did a google search of the “sign” that Jesus described to his disciples would be prevalent before his return. This study was very enlightening. What you will find below is in abbreviation. In other words, I only included one or two references to what could be several. I pray you will read Luke 21 and then give yourself time to look at the links included. Allow the Holy Spirit to quicken that which He wants you to be concerned with and make that a matter of prayer. Surely He is at the door. May we all be ready.
And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
And great earthquakes shall be in divers places,
and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
In your patience possess ye your souls.
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/heart_vascular_institute/clinical_services/centers_excellence/womens_cardiovascular_health_center/patient_information/health_topics/anxiety_heart_disease.html
And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. http://www.crossroad.to/HisWord/verses/topics/coming.htm
And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. http://www.nowtheendbegins.com/pages/the_fig_tree_prophecy.htm
And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Jesus instructed us that we have two responsibilities concerning the “endtimes.” First he said to “watch.” We must not be so preoccupied with our lives that we are oblivious to the conditions of the world and the implications they carry. We must study the news and stay informed about what is happening throughout the earth. And we must give ourselves to prayer. We must seek the Holy Spirit so we pray accurately , according to the plans and purposes of Our Lord in THIS hour. If we are faithful in this assignment we are assured of the reward: … “that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass and to stand before the Son of man.” My brethren, let us not grow weary in well doing for we shall surely reap if we faint not. Amen.
