Contemplating the vastness of our Lord intrigues me. It captivates my heart even as it brings consternation to my mind. To Cogitate on Christ stirs something deep inside that is at the same time mystifying and profoundly, foundationally absolute. The Triune Deity, identified by the Father , the Son and the Holy Spirit; that which was and is and is to come defies our finite abilities to fully comprehend the infinite. Yet, we lean towards that which we cannot fully fathom and yearn to understand that which completes our spirit.
Thankfully, we have been gifted with the inspired Word of YHWH. We are able to see through the glass darkly with the eyes of the Spirit and glimpse Him. Jesus boldly declared, “If you have seen me you have seen the Father.”
( John 14:9 ) Keep in mind when you “know” Jesus , you “know” the Father; all made possible by the Holy Spirit. They minister distinctively , yet in unity, to display the divine characteristics of the Eternal One. Totally amazing.
Consider the perfect harmony of their revealed personalities:
- Gen 1:3
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.
… “those that have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirt…”
- Gen 17:9
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
2 Corinthians 3:3-6
3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.
4 And such trust have we through Christ before God:
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;
6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life.
And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Luke 17: 26-33
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
Love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given us.
The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy;
he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for the dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Can you see the beautiful unity of our Lord? Hear O Israel the LORD our God , the LORD is one. Jesus does only what He sees the Father doing. The Father has sent the Son to represent Him in all things, the Holy Spirit freely moves over the face of the earth to demonstrate and empower the saints to do the will of the Father; such harmony of purpose and presentation.
I am not a fan of Larry King. I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen his program. However, when Joel Osteen was interviewed by Larry King several years ago, I tuned in. During the course of the interview, Mr. King was sympathetic to Mr. Osteen’s representation of Jesus declaring God’s concern and love for all people. But, he also said that he hated the God of the Old Testament. It seemed that he could not see the two as being part and parcel of the same entity. They are. It works like this, Jesus told his disciples: “Anyone who welcomes you welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes the One who sent me.” (Matt. 10:40)
Looking at Acts 10:38 we see the perfect interaction of the Godhead expressed: And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. The Father anoints, the Holy Spirit empowers and Jesus performs. They work together, though functioning in distinct but complimentary expressions of the Divine.
Jesus fed the multitudes. He blessed the two fish and five loaves , consequently, five thousand- plus people ate till they were full. Father, YHWH, fed over three million wandering Hebrews every day for forty years, with manna from heaven. They were operating out of the same “Spirit.”
Jesus demonstrated mastery over the elements when he commanded the wind and the sea to be still. Father God exercised His authority over nature when he commanded the Red Sea split and stand up in two giant walls as the East wind blew to dry the river bed. The next morning the Israelite's escaped from Pharaoh’s Calvary, walking on dry ground, while the Egyptians and their chariots were drowned beneath the collapsing walls of water as they pursued the Hebrews.
Jesus responded to his mother’s desire to save the wedding host in Cana from embarrassment by turning water into wine after there were more guests than drinks at the festive occasion. Father God responded to Moses’ cry for help when three million thirsty Jews demanded water in the desert for themselves and their livestock. Moses obediently struck the rock and water life a river flowed forth to meet their needs.
Jesus called dead Lazarus back to life and restored him to his grieving sisters in Bethany. Father God heard the cry of Elijah the prophet and sent the spirit of the dead Shulamite child back to his mother, restoring the only son.
Jesus cleansed the ten lepers of whom only one thanked him. YWHW, at the bequest of the prophet Elisha cleansed the Assyrian Commander Naaman from the same flesh rotting disease, by having him dip seven times in the Joran River.
Jesus mercifully over ruled judgement by declaring to the woman caught in the act of adultery, … “ I do not condemn you, go and sin no more.” The Great God of Israel, sent his prophet Nathan to adulterous David , revealing that his secret sin was no secret to Him. David was granted forgiveness to an offense that was punishable by death under the law.
Are we understanding the Oneness of the Father and the Son? Is it becoming more and more clear that the God we worship, as represented by the Son and empowered by the Holy Spirit is ONE?
YWHW told Moses: “I AM THAT I AM.” Likewise, Jesus affirmed the same identity by stating the following: I AM…

In Jesus’ own words:
28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. John 16: 23-33
Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, The LORD is one!
