Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty. What happens when a people cease to comprehend the holiness of YWHW?
What becomes of a religious entity that misunderstands sacred principles?
What can a nation expect that desecrates that which the Lord Almighty has sanctified?
Ezekiel 44:23 states that one of the chief responsibilities of the priest was to "teach my people the difference between the holy and the common and show them how to distinguish between the unclean and the clean." Because under the New Covenant we all have all been made Priest unto YWHW, the responsibility of proclaiming clean from unclean rests on the shoulders of all believers. Both pastor and parishioner bear the standard of the Lord. Without imparting biblical truth to each generation the world rushes in to tutor our children and compromise becomes apostasy. It is truly imparting the Character of Christ that keeps the Body from contamination. We are to live in His image and not re-make Him in our own image. He is Holy. Hebrew clearly states the without holiness no man shall see the Lord.
When you hear the word "holy," what moves in your heart? Or is there any emotional response? " Holy." I am not sure I can be put into English, but it draws me to my knees. It elicits a deep desire to be covered by the blood of the Lamb and hidden with Christ. There is an overwhelming thankfulness in my soul that acknowledges: He has made a way when there was no way. Without the sacrifice of Jesus, Yashua, the prisoners of the earth are forever separated from His Holiness.
Easton's on-line Bible Dictionary states: HOLINESS, in the highest sense belongs to God. (Is. 6:3, Rev. 15:4) and to Christians as consecrated to God's service and in so far as they are conformed in all things to the will of God (Romans 6:19, romans 6:22, Ephesians 1:4, Titus 1:8, I Peter 1:15) Personal holiness is a work of development. It is carried on under many hindrances, hence the frequent admonitions to watchfulness, prayer and perseverance ( I Cor. 1:30, 2Cor. 7:1, Ephe. 4:23, Ephe 4:23) ."
Now, superimpose the vernacular. Think about our culture and our language. How do we use this word that is quintessentially the Lord's. "Holy cow." Really? "Holy cr--." Impossible. "Holy _______." Blasphemous. Taking words or anything that is the Lord's and making it common or unclean brings a curse. II Corinthians 6:15-18 "What harmony can there be between Christ and Beliah [the devil] Or what has a believer in common with the unbeliever. 16 What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? for we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with them and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their god , and they shall be my people. 17 So come out from among (unbelievers) and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor. [Is. 52:11] 18 And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughter says the Lord Almighty. "
There was a leader of a nation, a few thousand years ago, that did not understand holiness or the power of desecration. His name was Belshazzar. You can read his story in the fifth chapter of Daniel. He was the son of Nebuchadnezzar. We remember that the Jewish nation was taken into Babylonian captivity by King Nebuchadnezzar; seventy years would be the duration of their exile. While there, Daniel, had risen to governmental authority by the favor of Almighty God. It was during this time that Beltshaazaar threw a party for his friends. Having been told of the golden vessels taken from the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem, he decided to use them for his own pleasure. Problem. These vessels were sanctified and dedicated to the worship of YWHW. When the vessels were retrieved from storage and filled with wine, the toasting began. The King used the vessels to honor himself and the gods of gold, silver, wood, stone and fleshly pleasure. Immediately, a hand appeared and began to write on the wall. Daniel was summonsed to interpret the message. The message was short and to the point: "God has numbered the days of your kingship and brought them to an end. You are weighed in the balance and found wanting. Your kingdom and your kingship are divided and given to the Medes and the Persians." That very night, Belshazaar, was slain by the Chaldeans and Darius the Mede took his kingdom. Desecration of that which is holy brings judgment. Period.
What has recently occurred in our nation that could bring swift judgment? Has there been an obvious desecration of that which was designed as holy? On June 27th, the "Supreme Court" of the United States of America ruled in a 5 to 4 decision that same sex unions were protected under the constitution as "holy matrimony" equal to heterosexual marriages. All four dissenting justices warned about trespassing in an area that was specifically ordained by Almighty God and holy in design. Marriage is a vessel. A holy vessel that contains the future of all generations. It is a vessel that the Father, Himself, set apart and blessed; "For this reason shall a man leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife; the two shall become one flesh. And what God has joined together let not man put asunder." Desecration is taking that marriage-vessel and using it for purposes that are not holy or recognized by the Lord; using the holy vessel for selfish and defiling purposes. Could it be that because of this desecration America has been weighed in the balance and found wanting?
Holy is the Lord.
