Wherever we are living on planet earth, at this time in history, as true Christians, we are faced with obstacles, stumbling blocks, and demonic opposition to the Light of Life that we are carrying for our King. It is the Light that the "emperor of evil darkness" so desires to extinguish...even to the destruction of our earthly temple if possible. So dark are his plans and horrendous his hidden agendas that even the most innocent child is a target of his cruelty and deprivation. We are faced, daily, moment by moment to either bend to the pressure of his unrelenting presence or press into the over-coming power of the Precious Holy Spirit. Knowing that this world is not our home, we keep our eyes fixed on the Kingdom of Heaven wherein lies our joy and ultimate reward: Hebrews 11:35-states that "women received their dead raised to life again; others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection; And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword; they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth."
Does this not read like the front page of the Daily News, or perhaps the banner scrolling across your smart phone's home screen. So what are we to do? Realize that the end of the age is at hand. Understand that the enemy has unleashed the worst of the worst, but he has only so many schemes, all of which have been defeated at the Cross of Calvary. We that endure to the end shall be saved. We that over-come will inherit the promises. Believing and declaring that we over-come him [the devil] by the Blood of the Lamb, the word of our testimony and we love not our lives unto the death.[Rev. 12:11] We fully believe that in this world we will have tribulation, but we embrace joy knowing that Jesus Christ has overcome the world and that in HIM we too, overcome.
According to the Book of Revelation the "overcomers" are in a class of their own. First the "over-comers," overcome. They are not those that shrink back into perdition. They are not those that are themselves overcome by the world, the flesh and the devil. They are the ones that have set their faces like flint to go all the way to Jerusalem. They have written on their hearts the sacrifice of Christ and chosen it as their own. They echo the resolve of Job, "thought he slay me, yet will I praise him." They fully embody the spirit of the three Hebrew children that enabled them to boldly proclaim at the entrance of the firey furnace: " Our God, whom we serve, is able to deliver us from the burning firery furnace...but even if He does not, we want you to know, that we will not serve your god..." (Daniel 3:17-18)
Back to the promises of Revelation. There are seven promises given to those who over-come. If you ever doubt in your heart that it will be worth the sacrifice, encourage yourself with these promises:
REV. 2:7 ETERNAL FOOD
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
Rev.2:17 A NEW NAME
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.
Rev. 2:26 AUTHORITY
And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:
Rev.3:5 ROBES OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
Rev. 3;12 MEMORIAL PILLARS
Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Rev. 21:17 ETERNAL INHERITANCE
He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Life must be lived purposefully; driven by our devotion to the divine plan and purpose of Father God. Agreeing with Him and drawing each breath we take from His throne empowers us to press on victoriously to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. We shall not falter and we shall not fail! WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE!
